Ride Day Preparation

Arriving prepared contributes to a smooth experience for everyone. The following points are general recommendations — not professional safety certifications.

  • Visibility Equipment

Front and rear lights are recommended for all sessions, especially evening rides. Reflective elements on clothing improve visibility in lower-light conditions.

  • Basic Bike Check

Verify tyre pressure, brake function, and chain lubrication before departure. Our educational guides include a printable pre-ride checklist.

  • Water and Snacks

Bring water for all rides. For sessions exceeding 30 km, you may wish to carry a light snack. This is practical ride-day preparation, not dietary advice.

Group Riding Signals

Coordinators use standard hand signals to indicate turns, obstacles, and pace changes. A brief overview is provided at the start of each meetup for new participants.

Weather Considerations

Sessions may be rescheduled during severe weather. Registered participants receive notification via the contact details they provide.

What to Bring on Ride Day

Helmet

Wearing a helmet is strongly encouraged at all meetups. While not legally required for adults in the Netherlands, it is a sensible precaution for group riding.

Mobile Phone

A charged phone allows you to stay in contact with coordinators and access maps if needed. Store it securely in a handlebar bag or jersey pocket.

Repair Kit

A spare inner tube, tyre levers, and a compact pump are useful for longer rides. Coordinators often carry shared tools, but personal preparation is appreciated.

Appropriate Clothing

Dress in layers suited to the forecast. Avoid loose clothing that could catch in moving parts. Gloves improve comfort on longer sessions.

Rotterdam Routes We Explore

Our coordinators select routes that showcase the diversity of Rotterdam's cycling infrastructure. Each route is assessed for surface quality and traffic interaction before inclusion in the schedule.

  • Harbour Loop

A scenic circuit along the Maas waterfront, passing maritime landmarks and open quayside paths.

  • Kralingen Forest Trail

Tree-lined paths through one of Rotterdam's largest parks, with gentle elevation changes and shaded sections.

  • City Centre Circuit

An urban route connecting cultural districts, designed for riders who enjoy architecture and city atmosphere.
